Because we like a challenge at Bewired, we were happy to take on the lighting of the Moonee Valley Athletics Track while the facility remained open to the public and user groups. The large scale of the project and allowing public access meant pre-planning was a crucial part of ensuring the project went along smoothly. With help from our good friends at Panna Cranes and Webb Australia, we finished the Moonee Valley Athletics Track project for Moonee Valley City Council on time.

With a 400m track to illuminate, the project involved underground boring & trenching works and light pole footings to safely hold six 25m poles, each with 34 Philips BVP528 LED Optivision fittings. The goal was to provide 200 lux across the athletics track and infield, increasing to a massive 500 lux at the finish line. No one will miss who comes in first with our new sports lighting!

With the increase in lux, we made sure to upgrade the main switchboard by installing Halytech Lighting Controls. The final aiming and commissioning were one of the best yet. We had a little fun making the team run the first lap to check the aiming was spot on.
