The Comely Banks multi-sport field was the bees’ knees of lighting. Working with the epic lighting suppliers and manufacturers Buckford Illumination, Light Planet Australia and Signify Company, we dug, measured, and installed. Then we tested (and tested again) to get it just right.

The project involved nine 32m light poles at varying depths of 4.5m to 6.0 deep with 80 Philips LED Optivision lights. The sports fields have two light levels to choose from – one for training and one for competition. Now one epic switchboard illuminates the four rugby fields and carpark in one central location.

Precision was vital when lighting the Comely Banks project. Surrounded by residential housing and Bridgewood Primary School, it was imperative that the spill lighting was minimal. Luckily the Bewired team is experienced at beam angles and lux testing at night. Before aiming the lights, the team surveyed the fields, setting out aiming points to achieve zero spill lighting that would impact the neighbouring community.
